VESPASIAN

AR Denarius (3.37 gm)
Lugdunum, 71 A.D.

Laureate head of Vespasian r. / Judaea standing l., with bound hands; palm tree behind. RIC 1120.

This coin is considered part of the "Judaea Capta" series with the reverse type a seated Judaea, but of the rarer variety, having the reverse legend IVDAEA DEVICTA, and Judaea standing with bound hands. Fourees of this type are common, and are under weight for the denomination by approximately a gram. Our coin is all the rarer in that it is not a fouree.

Very Rare.
