AUGUSTUS

AV Aureus (7.84 gm)
Rome, 2 B.C. - (?) 4 A.D.

Laureate head of Augustus r. / Caius and Lucius Caesar. RIC 209.

Clearly, Augustus' plan had been for one of his grandsons to succeed him, but Lucius died in 2 A.D., and Caius died in Lycia in 4 A.D.

Pleasant portrait.
